CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - With a fresh blanket of snow on the ground temperatures are expected to get very cold over the coming days.
Many areas of western Massachusetts saw 4-8 inches of snow Sunday night into Monday morning. As the snow leaves, the cold temperatures will be the weather story for the week.
LIST: How much snow did western Massachusetts get?
Going into Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures will be only in the teens across western Massachusetts with wind chill values in the single digits to below zero. The average high temperature for this time of year is 32 degrees and we probably won't get back above 32 degrees until the weekend.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from midnight to 10 a.m. Wednesday for Berkshire County for wind chills between 15 and 25 below.
7 Day Forecast
The reason for this is a large dip in the jet stream that is associated with an arctic area of high pressure that will deliver us this cold. As per the outlook over the next 8-14 days, the NWS and NOAA have the Northeast as below average with temperatures.
