Holyoke opens emergency shelter for people in need

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - During the winter storm and cold temperatures, the City of Holyoke will have an emergency shelter open for people in need.

The shelter is located at 51 Hamilton Street, and doors opened Sunday night. Guests are offered a hot dinner, showers, change of clothing, and a comfortable place to sleep.
Detox services and non-emergency medical care is also available. They are also accepting donations from the public.
“Sweatpants are huge. They're layering for people the that are going out to the community. Winter gloves are important,” said Jennie Adamczyk, Executive Director of Providence Ministries.
The shelter will remain open through Friday morning. Doors open every evening at 5:00 p.m.
