Jan 20, 2025
PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) -- Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) urged leaders on the federal level to increase transparency when they use Artificial Intelligence.
Warner said agencies aren't being upfront about the use of AI in their operations and how they are implementing it.
"In Fiscal Year 2022, 20 of 23 federal agencies reported almost 1,200 current and planned AI use cases," Warner said, in a statement. "However, agencies haven’t been forthcoming with data on how AI has changed outcomes for federal agencies, or how data is being used to inform future decision-making."
Some agencies he cited where AI was being used is in the Social Security Administration, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Justice.
