Lenexa police said that on the night of Jan. 17, at about 11:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of West 89th Terrace and Park Street on reports of an injury crash.
Upon arrival, officers found two cars, a Toyota RAV4 and a Ford Bronco, crashed in a nearby yard.
Investigations revealed that the RAV4, driven by Mesfin, had been driving northbound on Park Street when the Bronco, driven by Crouch, ran through a stop sign while traveling eastbound on West 89th Terrace. This resulted in Crouch hitting the side of the RAV4 and causing both cars to leave the roadway.
The Lenexa Police Department said Mesfin was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, and Crouch was taken into custody on "suspicion of driving under the influence."
