(WFRV) - With the arrival of extreme temperatures throughout Wisconsin, WisDOT officials say to avoid trendy internet hacks when dealing with an icy vehicle.
According to a social media post from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, throwing hot water on the windows of a vehicle to de-ice them can lead to the glass cracking.

WisDOT officials say that instead, simply turn the window defrosters on and wait until the car warms up before using a scraper to scrape off all the ice and snow.
They add that winter-grade windshield washer fluid can help too, but just be sure to clear off the entirety of the vehicle's windshield and windows to allow for full visibility while driving.
