DENVER (KDVR) — A 23-year-old bull rider from Ashland, Montana, was knocked unconscious Saturday while competing at the National Western Stock Show.
Bo Tyler Vocu competed in the National Western Stock Show Bull Riding event on Jan. 18, when he was bucked off the bull in round 1 and knocked unconscious, according to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Not the last ride: PBR, National Western Stock Show extend partnership by 5 years
A public relations contact for the National Western Stock Show pointed FOX31 to Facebook posts from Michael Bo Vocu, which gave some details on Bo's condition. According to a post made at about 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 18, Bo was awake as he left the rodeo and was taken to a hospital for some tests to ensure he was alright.
In an update, Michael shared that Bo's "tests all came back good so he's OK." Michael said that Bo has a concussion and will be sore for a while, as will his partner, Robbie Taylor, who "hit heads" Saturday night as well and received medical care.
A second post from Michael shared Sunday said Bo was "just a little banged up this morning" and headed to breakfast.
"Bull riding is the most humbling and dangerous sport ever," Michael Bo Vocu wrote on Facebook. "It’ll test everything about a person. It also creates one of the closest relationships with God."
Further information on Bo's injuries was not available Sunday evening.
Injuries at stock show rodeo events are not uncommon. On Thursday, Jan. 16, bareback rider Austin Broderson returned to the National Western Stock Show to thank the medical team that likely saved his life.
