The British teenager who stabbed three little girls to death at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class pleaded guilty to all charges Monday. Axel Rudakubana, 18, was in court for what was scheduled to be the start of his trial on three counts of murder and 10 counts of attempted murder. But when asked for his plea, Rudakubana — who hadn’t spoken in court throughout the entire judicial process — shocked the room by replying “guilty” to each charge against him. He will be sentenced Thursday and faces up to life in prison. Rudakubana fatally stabbed three girls — Alice Da Silva Aguiar, 9; Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Bebe King, 6 — at a small event in Southport on July 29. The girls had gathered with others around their age for a dance class soundtracked by the songs of Taylor Swift. In the vicious surprise attack, Rudakabana also stabbed eight other young girls, dance instructor Leanne Lucas and a bystander who tried to intervene, John Hayes. He was captured at the scene by police. People queue at Liverpool Crown Court in Liverpool, England, Monday, Jan. 20, 2025 where Axel Rudakubana is charged with killing three girls and wounding 10 other people in a stabbing rampage at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in England last summer. (Jon Super/AP) “The news that the vile and sick Southport killer will be convicted is welcome,” Prime Minister Keir Starmer told the BBC on Monday. “It is also a moment of trauma for the nation, and there are grave questions to answer as to how the state failed in its ultimate duty to protect these young girls.” In addition to the murder and attempted murder charges, Rudakubana pleaded guilty to possessing ricin, a knife and an al-Qaeda terror manual. After Rudakubana was captured, false rumors spread that he had recently arrived in Britain by boat, sparking organized violence by far-right groups throughout the country. Rudakubana was born in Wales. With News Wire Services
