PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation crews have been prepping for the snow since Sunday, pretreating roadways with salt.
And now, RIDOT crews are out plowing the roads.
If you have to work today and you need to drive, don’t crowd the plows.
And remember, icy roads or patches are possible, so drive slower than you normally would.
Make sure you accelerate and brake slowly to avoid skidding and increase your following distance between you and the car in front of you.
AAA also warns that car batteries lose 30 percent in 32 degree weather and 60 percent in zero degree weather.
The cold also effects the amount of pressure in your tires.
Drivers should check both the battery and tires before hitting the road.
