Dangerously cold weather to start the week
Jan 20, 2025
The arctic air has arrived in central Indiana and air temperatures are dropping near zero this Monday morning. Winds are strong enough to support dangerously low wind chills values, which has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Cold Weather Advisory for today!
Wind chills may drop down to -20° at times early in the day. However, it is likely that central Indiana will experience subzero wind chill values through the afternoon and evening. At least skies are going to be sunny with highs near 12° this afternoon.
The weather is going to be tough tonight because clear skies will help lows drop below zero by Tuesday morning. Be prepared for another morning with wind chills down to -20° and single-digit highs Tuesday afternoon. The last time Indiana had a single-digit high was January 15, 2024 with a high of 6°.
The Cold Weather Advisory continues through Wednesday morning for central Indiana. Temperatures will begin to recover by Wednesday afternoon as highs rise into the lower 20s. Highs are expected to rise back to the 30s Friday afternoon and heading into the weekend!
The biggest weather story this week is the dangerously cold temperatures through Wednesday morning. However, most days we will experience dry conditions with sunshine in the mix. There is only a chance for light snow showers Thursday this week.
