Marcus’ 4 a.m. Monday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Coldest airmass of the season tightens its grip over the eastern half of the country this week.
This morning:
Bitterly cold temperatures this morning with some scattered flurries that we were keeping an eye on here across the area.
Meanwhile, temperatures are falling around zero or slightly below zero across the area with wind chills at or below 10° below zero.
Monday:
We are under a cold weather advisory until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Today will be plenty of sun-filled hours, but brutally cold temperatures. Highs will climb back to the load of mid teens, but with wind gusts getting up to around 15 mph, look for wind chill to hang around 10 to 15° below zero.
Monday night:
A reinforcing shot of bitter cold air with even a few scattered flurries will be possible through the evening hours. Thanks for the cloud cover. We probably stay in the positive territory overnight, but still bitterly cold with lows just above zero. Wind chills will likely range between 10 to 15° below zero.
Tuesday:
Sunny skies continue as we head into the day on Tuesday. This will likely be our coldest day of this stretch, with highs failing to get out of the single digits. Overnight, Lowe’s will likely fall below zero, with wind chills falling between 10° to as low as 20° below zero.
Wednesday:
We will start off bitterly cold on Wednesday, but there is a nice shift coming our way by the afternoon. Strong warm air infection will bring in slightly warmer temperatures. We will still be well below average for this time of year but well out of the freezer like we will experience early in the week. Look for highs to return to the load of mid-20s by Wednesday afternoon.
7 day forecast:
A weak boundary on Thursday could squeeze out a few light snow showers, but most of us should stay relatively dry. The numbers should jump back up to near 30° by Thursday afternoon. Another system coming in for Friday could bring some scattered snow showers to the area. This should usher in a nice warming trend for the weekend, with temperatures modifying closer to the average for late January, with highs jumping back to the mid-30s for Saturday and Sunday.
