WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Nearly 4,000 officers from law enforcement agencies nationwide were sworn in Sunday to help support security for the 60th Presidential Inauguration, according to D.C. police.
"They have been deputized under the US Marshal Service, so they will be placed in positions where we need them across the city," said D.C. police Chief Pamela Smith in a news conference Sunday morning.

"These [deputized] officers, along with MPD and our federal law enforcement partners, will be working hard to ensure the safety of everyone throughout the District," D.C. police said in a post on the X platform.
