ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WROC) - It came down to the final minutes, but the Bills defeated the Ravens at Highmark Stadium in the Divisional Round to advance to the AFC Championship for the first time since 2020. The Bills won the toss and deferred to the second half. Ryan Fitzpatrick took off his shirt to fire up the crowd pregame and BillsMafia was ready for bear in Orchard Park. It looked like the Bills defense might make good on that energy early. The first two plays were Derrick Henry runs for one yard each. On third and eight, the Bills dropped eight into coverage and left Lamar Jackson a ton of time. He eventually scrambled for nine yards and a first down. After Henry dropped a wide open pass that might have scored, Jackson connected with Isaiah Likely on a wide open pass that went for 39. Three plays later, Jackson converted a third and three with a 16-yard touchdown to Rashod Bateman and the Ravens had an early 7-0 lead. The Bills answered with a TD drive of their own. Josh Allen had to get the Bills moving with a 34 yard pass to Khalil Shakir to grab a first down on third and 8. Four plays later, Buffalo found themselves in a 4th and two, but Allen kept on a QB draw out of a spread formation for seven yards. Three James Cook runs gained 18 yards and moved the ball down to the one yard line. Ray Davis punched it in from there to knot the game at 7. Buffalo's defense stepped on the next drive. After a Damar Hamlin stopped Henry for a loss of one, Jackson threw a pass deep that Bateman cut off short. Taylor Rapp caught what ended up a wild overthrow and the Bills had the ball right back. Allen's first play after the turnover was a first down throw to Dalton Kincaid. However, a Dion Dawkins holding penalty got Buffalo into 2nd and 17. A sack and a bail out incomplete pass followed and the Bills were forced to punt. Baltimore opened their next drive from the nine yard line and moved the ball 54 yards to the Bills 28 yard line. A bad snap on second and 10 got Jackson off schedule. Damar got his hands on Jackson and the Baltimore QB dropped the ball. Von Miller grabbed the loose ball and ran 39 yards to the Ravens 24 yard line. A 13 yard throw to Shakir pushed Buffalo inside the Baltimore 10 yard line. Cook and a pile got the ball to the one yard line and Allen snuck it in from there to give the Bills their first lead at 14-7. The Ravens were moving the ball again on their next drive. A 42 yard deep ball to Bateman set Baltimore up with first and goal at the two yard line. The Bills D stood up tall from there. Dorian Williams stuffed a Henry run for a loss of one. Greg Rousseau made excellent coverage stand up with a sack on the next play. The Bills forced an incompletion on 3rd and goal from the eight and the Ravens had to settle for a field goal to sliced Buffalo's lead to 14-10. Buffalo piled on before the half with some help from a borderline flag. A pair of Ray Davis runs netted 25 yards and moved the Bills inside the Baltimore 40 yard line. On third and 5, Allen took a shot for Keon Coleman that drew a pass interference flag on former Bills corner Tre'Davious White. It appeared Coleman did more of the interfering on replay. Buffalo took full advantage of the break with three straight runs for four yards. The last two from Allen were enough to reach the end zone and the Bills went to the half with a 21-10 lead. The first possession of the second half went to the Bills, but it didn't go far. Allen threw a bit short to an open Kincaid on second down. A play that could have gone for 15 yards ended up dropping Buffalo into 3rd and long. A Ravens blitz got home and Allen was forced to throw the ball away for a sack. That led to a punt and a good Baltimore return set the Ravens up at their own 36 yard line. Jackson found Mark Andrews to convert a third and five on Baltimore's first drive of the half. A pair of first down runs followed and the Ravens were inside the Buffalo 30 yard line. A.J. Epenesa stoned a sweep for a loss of two. The Ravens drive melted down from there, but Justin Tucker was good from 47 yards to get the Ravens within 21-13. Buffalo mustered only one first down on their next possession. A third and 5 screen to Dawson Knox was smothered. The second Sam Miller punt of the third quarter rolled into the end zone and Baltimore got the ball back at their own 20 yard line. The Ravens rolled downfield, going 80 yards in seven plays. All but 12 yards of it were on the ground. Henry scored from five yards out to pull the Ravens within 21-19, but Matt Milano broke up the two point try and the Bills remained in front. Buffalo's next possession gained 37 yards, including 28 on rushes. A pair of incomplete passes stalled the Bills at the Baltimore 33 yard line. Tyler Bass nailed a 51-yard field goal and the Bills extended the lead to 24-19. The Ravens had a first down throw and catch to Mark Andrews that would have set the Ravens up past midfield. However, Terrel Bernard made an incredible punch out to force a fumble. The ball landed right in his lap and Buffalo had possession again with a five point lead and eight minutes to play. A 12 yard pass to Mack Hollins got the Bills moving. Buffalo nickel and dimed down to the Baltimore 10 yard line. On third and goal from the two yard line, Allen was stopped on a run for a loss of one. Sean McDermott elected for a field goal that put the Bills up by eight with 3:29 to play. The Ravens had one more drive to find the end zone and try to tie it up with a two-point conversion. Jackson took the Ravens down the field in eight plays and found Likely deep for a 24 yard touchdown. Baltimore went for two but Jackson's pass to Anderson was incomplete, keeping the Bills out front 27-25. Baltimore attempted an onside kick but it was recovered by Rasul Douglas on Baltimore's 47 yard line. A 17 yard gain from Ty Johnson picked up the first down and sealed the deal for the Bills, coming away with the win. The Bills now advance to the AFC Championship where they'll face the Chiefs in Kansas City.
