(KRON) – A man has died and a woman was hospitalized after a car crashed into a tree on Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol. At 4:12 a.m., CHP officers and fire personnel responded to a crash on Highway 101 north of Dry Creek Road in Santa Rosa. CHP dispatch was informed that a vehicle was speeding excessively before the crash.  Responding officials saw an ablaze Infiniti sedan off the roadway. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to CHP.  According to the preliminary investigation, the Infiniti was speeding on Highway 101 when the driver lost control and slid off the roadway hitting a tree.
