RI experiencing first plowable snowfall of the winter
Jan 19, 2025
NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) -- The first plowable snowfall expected for Rhode Island this winter has started to come down.
Crews are currently on roads as the snow accumulates throughout the state. Drivers are urged to be cautious if they are going to be on the roads as conditions become slick and icy.
AAA Northeast's Jillian Young told 12 News that drivers should "adjust their driving habits."
"The first thing to just remember is to slow down," Young said. "Adjusting your speed allows you some extra time to stop if you need."
Young also recommends that people make sure their car battery and tires have been checked since they could be affected during colder weather.

Due to the weather conditions anticipated for Sunday and Monday, parking bans were implemented throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Multiple arrival and departure flights at T.F. Green Airport were canceled.
