INDIANAPOLIS — A person was shot on the east side of Indianapolis Sunday evening.
Per the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 4400 block of East 10th Street around 5:27 p.m. on a report of a person shot. When police arrived at the scene, they located a victim with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
A FOX59/CBS4 crew found multiple officers at the scene, which appeared to be the Kroger located at 4445 E. 10th St. Police in the area told FOX59 and CBS4 the victim — who IMPD described as a male — was shot in the buttocks.
Police confirmed the male was transported from the area to a local hospital in stable condition after the shooting. IMPD has yet to publicly announce if it has identified any suspects or persons of interest at this point in its investigation.
A Kroger spokesperson indicated the victim was shot somewhere outside the store. He then proceeded inside to seek assistance.
"Kroger hopes for a speedy recovery by the injured person," a Kroger spokesperson wrote in a prepared statement. "Our security team will do whatever is necessary to assist Indianapolis police in their investigation of the incident."
