BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Bills Mafia shows their support for the team in all sorts of ways, and for one fan it's by going the distance. Brian Goldsmith carried out his traditional 17-mile run on Sunday from North Buffalo to Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park. The Buffalo native now lives in Texas and traveled back home for the playoff game. He went to the game, but first he ran there in the cold and snow. "It could be negative 80, it could be 120 degrees -- I don't care, it's the Bills playoff game and I'm going to do it," he said beforehand. Goldsmith had done the run a few times already, with Sunday's trek being his 10th. It started in 2017, the year the Bills ended their 17-year playoff drought. Why this Buffalo Bills fan is running 17 miles to the MNF home opener "This started off as a bet once. I said I could run to the Bills game and my friends were like, 'No you can't,' " Goldsmith said. "I said, 'Tell me I can't do something, I'm going to do it.' " He proved his friends wrong and decided he would try doing this every year. "This became a tradition that allowed me to stay tied to the city that I love," he said. Goldsmith didn't just run for fun, he's raising money for Wings Flights of Hope, a local nonprofit that provides people who need of medical care free air transportation to the hospital. "I was looking at different organizations, feeling out which ones would be good," Goldsmith said. "Their location to the stadium kind of made sense, with the Bills, and once I started talking to people, that nonprofit started to really crop up as an organization a lot of people have relationships with and they've had positive experiences with."
