BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Senator Kevin Cramer is joining other lawmakers in introducing legislation that they say will help veterans better understand their benefits. This bill is the VA Home Loan Awareness Act. Senator Cramer says this bipartisan bill would require a disclaimer on the Uniform Residential Loan Application that the Department of Veterans Affairs offers home loan programs. The bill proposes putting the disclaimer below the military service question on the form. The bill would also require a study to see if 80% of lenders are including this disclaimer in the application. Senator Cramer says this bill will help increase awareness of the benefits veterans have but may not know about.
