ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man was arrested late Saturday afternoon after attempting to sexually assault and rob an undergraduate student at the University of Rochester, according to a message sent to students.
The man was able to enter Genesee Hall, a first-year dormitory, by catching a door as it closed, according to investigators. He had no affiliation with the university and was swiftly arrested and removed from campus, officials stated.
"The safety and security of our campus community is paramount. While incidents like this are uncommon on our campus, we all must be vigilant in taking precautions to prevent criminal activity. This includes not letting any unknown person into a secured campus building, and after opening a door to enter a building, ensuring that it closes behind you," the university announced.
