(BCN) -- Fairfield police detectives are investigating a death that occurred Saturday in what police described as the first homicide in Fairfield this year. Around 7:16 a.m. Saturday, police dispatchers received a call regarding a person lying on the road near the 2300 block of El Rancho Way. Upon arriving at the scene, patrol officers located a dead man who appeared to have been shot, according to police. Detectives responded and took over the investigation, police said.
