Christian Center of Park City accepting donations for California wildfire victims

The Christian Center of Park City is asking for donations to help the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires. With over 40,000 acres burned, more than 12,000 structures destroyed and at least 24 dead, plenty is needed.“As they say in the military, we are moving at the speed of change,” said Executive Director Steve Richardson. “We have to adapt quickly to what’s happening and have implemented a four-prong approach to help those in need.” The first prong has already been completed, as the center teamed up with two local groups out of Heber, Amigos Painting and Landscape and Shiny Spaces, to deliver supplies to southern California. On Friday, household basics such as diapers, first-aid items and cleaning supplies were collected, loaded onto a delivery truck and transported to a rescue-aid organization in Los Angeles. The second prong is underway as the center is coordinating with the Sundance Film Festival. “A lot of the folks visiting from Los Angeles had their houses burned down or damaged. Many will be here without any winter wear or equipment. We are gathering coats, jackets, boots, hats, gloves — anything they could need,” Richardson said. Every donated item will go towards helping the wildfire victims. “We want the community to feel connected to each individual cause.” The third prong will tackle the donations that are not claimed during the film festival.“Each item will be marked separately and sold at the CCPC store. From there all the money and proceeds will be given directly to the Los Angeles area Red Cross,” Richardson said. Also, the center has created a network of local churches and nonprofits, “to be ready” once the next need is identified. “This way we will be able to respond immediately,” said Richardson. “As soon as the next request comes in — whether that be canned goods, toiletries, clothing, or something else — we will take the lead by letting the community know what is needed most.”Donations can be dropped off at the Christian Center location at 1283 Deer Valley Drive in Park City or visit ccofpc.org for other options. The post Christian Center of Park City accepting donations for California wildfire victims appeared first on Park Record.
