NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officials with the New Orleans Fire Department were made aware of a fire at the former Six Flags site in New Orleans East on Saturday, Jan. 18. The NOFD reported that the fire was about 70 feet from the ground and involved 15 feet of roller coaster tracks at the former amusement park that is in the process of being demolished. Winter Storm Watch: Several inches of snow expected across Gulf Coast on Tuesday NOFD officials said while the fire is inaccessible to crews due to the location and its topography, it is not a threat to public safety. According to the NOFD, crews are monitoring the situation as they have received several 911 calls about the fire.
