Crash in Belle Chasse causes temporary water outage

BELLE CHASSE, La. (WGNO) — A crash in Belle Chasse caused water outages in the area on Sunday, Jan. 19.
Plaquemines Parish officials said a fire hydrant and an electrical pole were damaged during the crash on Highway 23, causing outages and low water pressure.

Parish officials said that INFRAMARK and Entergy are working to make repairs.
In an update posted to social media, parish officials said that the impacted waterline must be shut off for Entergy to replace the electrical pole, meaning all of Belle Chasse will experience a temporary water outage.

Once repairs are complete and water is restored, parish officials said a boil water advisory will go into effect.
According to the parish, there is no timeline yet for when repairs will be finished.
