LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The Fayette County Democratic Party is hosting it’s annual clothing drive. The party hosts the drive every Martin Luther King weekend. The drive is being held at the party’s headquarters on South Broadway. Jordan Lloyd spoke about the importance of an event like this, especially on MLK weekend. “We’re accepting all kinds of clothing items,” said Lloyd. “Pants, shoes, socks and underwear. Everybody gets cold, everybody needs clothing and everybody needs some help sometimes. So, it’s really great to see people coming together really wanting to just support each other.” Lloyd adds that once the drive is complete, volunteers will make sure all of the clothes are clean before distributing them to local shelters.
