ASHLAND, Wis. (WFRV) - A 20-year-old man was found dead in open water Sunday morning after possibly falling through the ice while riding a snowmobile on Chequamegon Bay. The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office received a report shortly after 12:15 a.m. about a missing man who was expected to join a group for ice fishing but never arrived. Fond du Lac Police investigate armed robbery at convenience store According to authorities, the man’s last known communication was around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. He was reportedly traveling on a snowmobile at the time. The United States Coast Guard and other local agencies launched a search and located the man at approximately 10:00 a.m. Sunday in open water. Fond du Lac officials investigate strip mall fire, arrest 19-year-old suspect The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident. No further details have been released.
