1: House Bill looks to list Kratom as controlled substance. An herbal substance sold throughout North Dakota is getting attention from lawmakers this legislative session. The bill would list the herbal substance known as Kratom, alongside fentanyl, as a Schedule 1 substance.
2: Minot man killed in rollover crash near Ray. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the 54-year-old man was heading west on Highway 2 on January 16 when his vehicle entered the center median and overturned. He was taken to the Tioga Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.
3: Man found dead after fire in Glen Ullin. According to the Morton County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call about a structure fire in Glen Ullin. When the fire department arrived, they worked to put the fire out and a subsequent search of the building was done. During the search, officials found the body of a 42-year-old man, who was deceased on scene.
4: Man charged with homicide on Standing Rock reservation. A man is now awaiting trial for the death of another man that happened on a reservation. U.S. Marshalls arrested Deagen Running Bear. He's facing four counts, including second-degree murder and three counts of assault. According to documents filed in federal court, Running Bear is accused of attacking and killing Elijah Red Tomahawk in May of 2023.
5: 12-year death case reopened: Investigators reexamine Hillsboro man’s death in the Badlands. Investigators are now re-opening a case after 12 years of not knowing how a 51-year-old Hillsboro man died. McKenzie County Sheriff's Office told KX News that detectives are looking further into Duncan Templer's death from back in 2013.
