Jan 19, 2025
AUSTIN (KXAN) --We're still roughly 24 hours from the beginning of wintry precipitation into Central Texas that looks to bring widespread accumulating snow and sleet to the area. Before that gets here, it gets colder.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from now until noon on Wednesday due to dangerously cold air and wind chill temperatures.
Cold Weather Advisory for wind chills down in the teens the next few nights
Monday morning is expected to be much colder as the Hill Country drops into the mid-teens while the Metro and Eastern Counties are head for the upper teens and low teens.
Monday morning air temperatures
Wind chill will knock another 5-10 degrees off the above air temperatures. Cover exposed skin if heading outside the next few days.
Winter storm arrives late Monday
Clouds will begin to increase Monday, but only a few flurries are possible during the daylight hours on Monday.
Monday evening and night into the first few hours of Tuesday morning bring the majority of our wintry weather. A few stray snow showers or flurries will be possible for the daylight hours of Tuesday morning.
Most of the widespread snow arrives Monday night

Winter Weather Alerts
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for all of the Austin Metro counties and most of our eastern counties beginning Monday at 6 p.m. and continuing through Tuesday at 6 p.m due to accumulating snow and sleet and a light freezing rain that could make travel dangerous, especially on elevated bridges.
Winter Storm Warning
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of the Hill Country where lower snow/sleet accumulations are expected, but some hazardous travel is still expected.
Winter Weather Advisory
While widespread snow arrives Monday evening and ends by midday Tuesday, there may still be lingering icy roads and bridges after the precipitation ends. Use caution if travelling as black ice will be a concern well into Tuesday night.
Warmer temperatures will slowly work back into Central Texas with highs back in the 60s by next weekend.
