COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- The Ohio State football team is in Atlanta gearing up for the national championship and you can always count on Buckeye fans to follow.
“Live games are just so different from your TV. You know, you’re there. You’re touching it. Literally the air is different,” said Tricia Coleman.
According to John Glenn International Airport, Sunday was the busiest day for travel to Atlanta as fans travel for Monday's game.
What to know about Ohio State in the national championship game
Airport officials said on average, eight flights depart to Atlanta each day but to prepare for the game, they had 21 flights. That’s nearly 4,000 seats and many of them were filled with scarlet and grey.
“We got our tickets, I think a week before so we got our tickets before we even knew they were going to be in the national championship game. We just go ours based on faith,” said William Bradley.
Some fans are looking forward to their very first time watching the Buckeyes play for a championship in person.
“We wanted to be there to experience it this time around. We don’t know when they’re going to go back, if we’ll be around or whatever so why not? Why not take a chance?” said Kimeil Marsh.
Meanwhile, other fans have been reflecting on those feelings back in 2015, hoping to do it again.

“Just the camaraderie of the fans and watching the team and their ability to bring it home for Buckeye nation was just amazing,” said Tom Ring.
Fans have a lot of emotions going into the game.
“It’s retribution. We were there two years ago in Atlanta for the semifinal, when we missed the field goal and we’re like we’re going back to Atlanta. We’re going to win this time,” said Coleman.
Other Buckeyes fans NBC4 spoke with shared Coleman's sentiments and think this time they will take the championship trophy.
“I think we’re going to win handily. I really do. I think it’s going to be a lot like the Oregon game and it’s going to be a lot like the Tennessee game. I predict that we will be up greatly at halftime,” said Ring.
