BLOG: Rain for Sunday, watching snow chances this week
Jan 19, 2025
We started this morning with dense fog, but as the rain moves in, the fog should dissipate, and we will see scattered showers for the rest of the day. Highs will be in the 40s with a light east wind at 5-10 mph today. Snow will fall in northern Virginia today. 1"-3" is expected in Fredericksburg and DC. Also, Charlottesville will see 1"-3" today.

Colder air rushes in tonight, our temperatures will make a big drop with lows in 20s and highs tomorrow in the low 30s. We will see sunny skies for MLK Day. If you are traveling north to D.C. for Inauguration Day, expect highs in the 20s with a wind chill near 9 degrees.
Wind Chill values will also be very cold on Tuesday morning with the Feels Like temperature close to 3-10 degrees in our area. Don't forget about your pets with the cold air as well!
For the week ahead, we are also watching a chance for a few snowflakes to develop for the OBX on Tuesday night.
At this point, I believe our impacts will be minor, or none for the Hampton Roads cities. Snow is still possible for the Outer Banks where accumulations are expected. Snow totals are still hard to pin down at this point. The long-range models are also hinting at another chance for wintry weather Thursday night, but at this point we are in a wait and see game.
