Arrest made after fatal Interstate 10 crash in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — One person is dead, and another has been arrested after a crash on Interstate 10 in New Orleans on Sunday, Jan. 19.
The NOPD reported the crash happened on I-10 East at the Elysian Fields Exit around 5:41 a.m.

NOPD officials said an initial report shows that a man was getting out of his Volkswagen Jetta after pulling over to inspect possible car issues when he was hit by a Ford F250 heading east on I-10.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the NOPD, the driver of the other vehicle, identified as 45-year-old Jerome Lamar Gross, was arrested and faces a driving under the influence charge.

NOPD officials said the Interstate was closed as part of the investigation and reopened around 8 a.m.
Additional information was not released, and the Orleans Parish coroner will identify the victim.
