Bryant Blows Out UMass Lowell To Remain Unbeaten in America East

Barry Evans tallied 24 points and Earl Timberlake notched a double-double as the Bryant men’s basketball team dominated UMass Lowell winning, 85-62, on Saturday afternoon at the Chace Athletic Center.
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 10-9 overall and 4-0 in the America East. Saturday marked Bryant’s first win against Lowell since transitioning to the Division I level. Bryant returns to the court on Thursday night(Jan. 23) when they travel to take on New Hampshire.
Bryant would have five players finish in double-digit for the second straight game and the fifth time this season. The Bulldogs have been victorious in all of those contests. The Black and Gold would also provided smothering defense, finishing with 11 blocks and eight steals.
Barry Evans led the Black and Gold on offense, with 24 points, coming up just one point shy of tying his career high. Evans would go 7-16 from the field and also had five rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Earl Timberlake (6-9 FG) logged his 34th career double-double with 14 points and 18 rebounds. He would also have five assists and four blocks.

How it Happened
After over two minutes of scoreless play, Bryant would strike first with a left handed layup from Earl Timberlake.
Lowell’s Cam Morris III would finally get the Riverhawks on the board following the first media timeout after sinking a pair of free throws.
The nation’s leading 3p shooter, Rafael Pinzon, would sink his first triple of the day with 12:54 in the first half. He would hit three of his first six from the field.
The Bulldogs would then go on a 20-7 run. In that run they would score 11 straight thanks to contributions from Pinzon, Barry Evans, Jakai Robinson, and Connor Withers.
Pinzon would find Withers for a long range three that would put the Bulldogs up by 15 going into the under four media.
Lowell’s Martin Somerville would hit double-figures in the first half after hitting a step back three with under two minutes to go.
Barry Evans would lead the Bulldogs in scoring through the first half 13 points, going 6-11 from the field. Bryant would go into the locker room leading 45-28.
Out of the break, Bryant would get on the board first after Earl Timberlake found Keyshawn Mitchell under the bucket for a quick layup. Lowell would quickly counter with a Quinton Mincey bucket.
Evans would score his first points of the second half after hitting a three just under the 17 minute mark.
Connor Withers would find success against his former team, hitting a pair of threes from above the key in the first ten minutes of the second half.
With just over 13 to play Earl Timberlake would find Barry Evans for a cross court alley-oop that Evans would throw down and put Bryant up by 20.
Earl Timberlake would finish with a career high 18 rebounds in his double-double against the Riverhawks.
Barry Evans would come up just one point of tying his career high for points after tallying 24 on Saturday.

Bryant finished the game 34-of-75 (45.3 percent) from the field, 8-of-28 (28.6 percent) from three and 9-of-12 (75.0 percent) from the line.

Keyshawn Mitchell records back-to-back double-digit scoring games for the second time this season. He would finish with 11 points, seven boards, and three blocks against the Riverhawks.

Bryant earns their first win against UMass Lowell at the Division I level. The Bulldogs were previously 0-5 against the Riverhawks since joining the America East.
