SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – President-elect Donald Trump will take the oath of office on Monday.Communities across the country are speaking out about issues they feel are at risk through Women's March. The arctic temperatures may have turned this year's Sioux Falls Women's March into an indoor rally, but it didn't stop people like Marcela Salas from showing support for issues that matter to them. "We should be able to make the decisions that we want for our own bodies. A lot of times people don't think about like the health implications when it comes to having to be forced to have a child," Salas said. The 2025 Sioux Falls Women's March featured discussion on issues like abortion, immigrant and LGBTQ+ rights. Summerset woman sent to federal prison for child exploitation "Protecting our black and brown women out there who are the most vulnerable to police brutality, to policies that aren't for them," Salas said. "When we can come together as women and talk about not only women's rights, but immigration rights and our community rights as a whole, that's when we can all bind together." Organizations were present to offer opportunities for people to get involved and learn about some of those topics. "The first thing that we always see after rallies like this is a surge in energy," Minnehaha County Democratic Party chair Erin Royer said. "A lot of people come together, they find like-minded people, and we really start to connect with our communities around us." The rally in Washingotn D.C. covered similar topics, but has evolved into what's called the People's March to reflect a broader focus. While the Sioux Falls event retains its original name, it's clear its message goes beyond just women's rights. "We're concerned about the direction that we're going. Not just for women, not just for women's rights, but for people's rights. We don't want to go backwards," Wendy Olson said. "We don't want to lose ground."
