COLD WEATHER ADVISORY: Dangerous cold spills in tonight
Jan 18, 2025
The Latest northeast Wisconsin forecast from Storm Team 5...
Today was the transition day between the very mild day yesterday and what it is to come tonight through early next week. We had a midnight high in the low to mid 30s, but spent most of the day in the teens and 20s.
For tonight, once we lose the daylight and with clear skies and gusty NW winds, temperatures and wind chills will begin to fall. Overnight lows will range between zero and ten below, with wind chills on the order of -15 to -25.
A COLD WEATHER ADVISORY goes into effect for all of northeast Wisconsin at 3am tonight, lasting through 9pm Monday evening, as the forecasted wind chills could cause frostbite within 20-30 minutes.
It will be very important to cover exposed skin, give yourself even more time in the morning then usual, check in on relatives and make sure outdoor animals have a warm place to stay.
Tomorrow, we will see mostly sunny skies with a few afternoon clouds. High temperatures in the low to middle single digits, and there will be little improvement from the morning wind chills. Overnight lows will fall between -5 and -10, with wind chills at the bus stop Monday morning between -25 and -35. Highs Monday, positive and negative single digits.
The coldest period will be without a doubt Monday night into Tuesday morning. Overnight lows will fall to a range of -10 to -20, wind chills even colder between -30 and -35. This could put portions of NE WI in the 'Extreme Cold Warning', so make sure you have the Storm Team 5 App downloaded.
Highs Tuesday might not make it into the positive single digits in the afternoon for some. It will still be chilly Wednesday morning, but we will see this cold snap ease around midweek. Only chances for some snow will be Thursday and Saturday...as of now.
