(KRON) – A man was arrested after brandishing another man with an unregistered and loaded firearm, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.
Around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Santa Rosa police officers were flagged down near a parking garage “regarding a disturbance involving a firearm,” according to police.
Santa Rosa PD said a victim informed officers he was in an argument with a man he knew and that the man brandished a gun and threatened him.
Police said they used vehicle registration information to locate the suspect. Officers responded to the 2900 block of West Creek Lane and found the suspect sleeping in his car with a handgun on the passenger seat within arms reach of the suspect.

The department's armored response vehicle responded and positioned behind the vehicle to provide officers a shield between officers and the armed suspect.
Officers said they attempted to awaken the suspect, but he did not respond for over 30 minutes. According to police, a drone was positioned above the vehicle to monitor the suspect’s movements through the windshield. Police also used a pole to break out the vehicle’s back glass.
Santa Rosa PD said once the windshield was broken, “negotiations resumed and the suspect eventually awoke and submitted to arrest without incident.”

The suspect was determined to be intoxicated following a DUI investigation, police said. Police said they recovered the loaded and unregistered 9mm handgun.
The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Santa Rosa resident David Lesley. He was booked into Sonoma County Jail for suspicion of brandishing a weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, possession of an unregistered firearm and driving under the influence of alcohol.
