PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) — The Portsmouth Police Department said that it arrested two contracted waste workers for allegedly taking bribes at the Portsmouth Transfer Station.
46-year-old Paul Lapierre and 45-year-old Ricardo Torres Alcantar, both of Providence, were charged with acceptance of a bribe and conspiracy.
Police said that an investigation found that both men allegedly accepted a $50 bribe so a non-resident could dispose of their trash at the station.
Both men were were released on a $2,000 bond and are expected back in court on Jan. 23.
