Warming shelters to open ahead of expected cold temperatures

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Several warming shelters will be opening across the state ahead of expected cold temperatures and snowfall.
The city of Providence says the Da Vinci Center, located at 470 Charles Street, will be open on Monday at 7 p.m., until Tuesday at 7 a.m.
The city is working with Better Lives RI and the Da Vinci Center to help those who need a safe, warm place to stay during the cold temperatures.
There are also other warming shelters that are available, including Crossroads RI, Providence Rescue Mission and the Emmanuel House.

In addition, Governor Dan McKee, with help from the Department of Housing’s Municipal Homelessness Support Initiative, said the following emergency winter hubs will be open.
West Warwick: West Warwick Civic Center, 100 Factory Street – Open Monday, January 20 at 4:30 p.m. through Thursday, January 23 at 10 a.m.
Westerly: WARM Center, 56 Spruce Street – Open 24/7
Woonsocket: 356 Clinton Street – Open Monday, January 20 at 5:00 p.m.
There will also be several overnight drop-in shelters available at the following locations.
Pawtucket: OpenDoors: 1139 Main Street
Providence: Crossroads Rhode Island: 160 Broad Street
Providence: Emmanuel House: 239 Public Street
South Kingstown (Peace Dale): Welcome House of South County: 8 North Road
McKee also said in the statement that the Rhode Island Department of Transportation has 145 plows ready, with an additional 220 vendors on call. there is also 50,000 lbs. of also ready to treat the roads.
Residents who may any additional help is asked to call 211.
