EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- On Saturday afternoon, 12 new firefighters were sworn in as members of the East Providence Fire Department.
The Municipal Academy graduates were being brought in thanks to nearly $4M in federal funding, through the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant program.
Governor Dan McKee, Senator Jack Reed, Congressman Gabe Amo, Mayor Bob DaSilva and other city leaders were in attendance.
The event will happened at East Providence High School.
