Travis Kelce makes NFL history in first game of threepeat quest
Jan 18, 2025
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Once again, Travis Kelce has broken an NFL record at Arrowhead Stadium after catching a pass from Patrick Mahomes.
With a late third-quarter catch, Kelce is now the only player ever to catch at least 100 passes in seven straight seasons, including the postseason. He's also the third player ever with at least 100 catches in seven overall seasons.
Taylor Swift, WNBA star, TikTok sensation all spotted at Arrowhead
While many claim Kelce has had a down year, his stats say otherwise. He caught 97 passes for 823 yards during the regular season. That's a lot for any pass-catcher, let alone a 35-year-old tight end.
To put those numbers into perspective, star tight end Rob Gronkowski only caught 90 passes one time in his career, in 2011, when he was 22 years old.
Last postseason, Kelce eclipsed the seemingly untouchable record Jerry Rice set for postseason receptions with 152. Now, Kelce is adding to that number in the 2024-2025 postseason.
Additionally, with a TD reception just minutes after, Kelce began closing in on Rice's TD reception record. Kelce sits at 20, Rice's record stands at 22.
