KOKOMO, Ind. — A residence fire in Kokomo left one person dead Friday night.
According to the Kokomo Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of North Armstrong Street around 11:08 p.m. Five minutes later, they found a house with heavy fire showing on its front side.
Firefighters reported that their attempts to rescue a person trapped inside the residence were unsuccessful due to a partial collapse of the house's structure and extreme heat.
KFD did not name the person who died in the fire in its release. The agency indicated the decedent's name will not be available until their family has been properly notified of their death.
