The closure will begin at the gate at New Canyon Campground up to Capilla Peak Campground. A U.S. Forest Service press release says the purpose of the closure is to protect public safety and prevent natural resource damage from vehicle traffic during the winter months. Planned forest management activities will also take place during this time.
The official order is posted on the Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands website.
