Vonn, Macuga finish top20 at Cortina d’Ampezzo downhill

Parkite speed skiers Lindsey Vonn and Lauren Macuga each posted top-20 finishes at the Cortina d’Ampezzo World Cup downhill race Saturday. Vonn finished with a time of 1:35.63, good enough for 20th, and Macuga finished at 1:35.27, in 16th. Both skiers were coming off a huge weekend in St. Anton, Austria, where Vonn posted her best results since her comeback and Macuga won her first Cup race. The host nation had themselves a day, with Sofia Goggia winning with a time of 1:33.95. Fellow Italian Federica Brignone finished in third. Norway’s Kajsa Vickhoff Lie rounded out the podium in second. Vonn, Macuga and the rest of the field will be back in action Sunday for the Cortina super-G race.
