Student repeats as Henrico Public Schools’ Divisionwide Spelling Bee champion

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Tuckahoe Middle School student repeated as Henrico County Public Schools' Divisionwide Spelling Bee champion on Thursday night.
Tuckahoe Middle School eighth-grade student Rohith "Ro" Thomas, 13, repeated as champion of Henrico County Public Schools' Divisionwide Spelling Bee on Thursday, Jan. 16 after he correctly spelled "ubiquity" in the eighth round of the bee held at J.R. Tucker High School.
Tessa Winsor, an eighth grader at Quioccasin Middle School, was runner-up.

According to Henrico County Public Schools, other words Ro spelled correctly at the competition included "penitentiary," "cloture" and "annuity."
Ro will move on to represent the school district in the Richmond Raceway Regional Spelling Bee, where the regional winner will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which is held the week of Memorial Day.
