CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The United States Coast Guard will enact a security zone in the waters near the International African American Museum ahead of President Joe Biden’s visit this weekend. The blocked-off area of the Cooper River adjacent to the museum will be in place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19 encompassing all waters within an area approximately 680 yards long and 500 yards wide. No vessels or people will be allowed within that space unless authorized by official patrol, the U.S. Coast Guard said in a marine bulletin Saturday morning. “Mariners are encouraged to plan transits accordingly to avoid unnecessary disruptions,” USCG said. President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will attend Sunday morning service at Royal Missionary Baptist Church in North Charleston Sunday morning before touring the International African American Museum in the afternoon. He is expected to deliver remarks at the museum on his last full day in office. President Biden and the First Lady will return to Washington after they tour the museum.
