It’s win or go home for the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders, as the NFL playoffs kick off the Divisional Round of the playoffs on Saturday. For the one-seeded Lions, this is just one step in the goal they’ve had all season: win the Super Bowl. After getting bounced in the Conference Championship last year, winning it all has been the only acceptable goal for the 2024 season. Thus far, they’ve accomplished everything they’ve wanted to: winning the division for the second straight season, earning the NFC’s top seed, and getting a first-round bye. But legends are made in the postseason, not the regular season. So if Detroit wants to avoid disappointment this season, they’ll need to take care of business Saturday night against the Commanders. As for Washington, they’ve already blown expectations out of the water. With their win over/under season total set around 6.5 this offseason, a 12-5 year and a playoff win for the Commanders was one of the biggest surprises of the year. They’re certainly playing with house money, but that doesn’t mean the players are just going to be fine with a Divisional Round loss to Detroit. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has this team playing loose and fearless, and they’ll be carrying that attitude into Ford Field Saturday night.
