INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Temperatures will gradually decrease behind our morning system. An extreme cold watch has been issued for central Indiana Monday morning.
TODAY: AM rain is likely. A few spots mainly north of I-70 will transition briefly to snow early to mid-morning. Cloudy and dry conditions for this afternoon. Slushy accumulations are possible in these isolated spots. High temperatures have already been reached at midnight in the lower 40s. Gradual, falling temperatures will occur the rest of the day.
TONIGHT: Cloudy skies remain. A few flurries may arrive in the early morning hours. Low temperatures in the teens.
TOMORROW: Spotty to scattered snow flurries are possible in the morning to early afternoon hours. High temperatures in the low 20s.
EXTREME COLD WATCH: This is the first time this type of alert has been issued for Indiana (formerly wind chill watch). It is in place from 1 AM to 1 PM Monday for dangerous wind chill values potentially as low as -25. A cold weather advisory or extreme cold warning is likely to be issued as a next step after this watch.
7-DAY FORECAST: Multiple mornings below zero are expected early next week with high temperatures struggling to get out of the single digits. Dry conditions will remain until smaller chances of snow on Thursday and Friday.
