Day two from the 57th Annual Jones County Invitation is officially in the books, and what a Saturday it is setting up to be! Here is a quick recap of all the action from Friday and the full schedule for Championship Saturday Bennett County defeats Philip 53-43 This was a game that Bennett County controlled, but one that Philip never let get too far away from them. Philip turned the ball over 8 times in the first quarter, but Bennett County just could not get into a rhythm on offense keeping it close, Warriors leading 25-17 at halftime. The theme of this game remained true from start to finish, Bennett County would go on a run, Philip would stave off the momentum, rinse and repeat. The Scotties did a great job keeping themselves in the game, but could not string enough shots together to find themselves in front. Rush O’Neill led both teams in scoring with 21 for the Warriors, and Caysen Soderlin finshed with 10 after a productive second half. On the Scotties side, Christopher Lurz had a big game with 17, Weston Reedy had 10 off the bench. Jones County wins 50-47 thriller over White River For just the second time in 19 years, the White River Tigers will not be Champions of the Jones County Invitational. To be fair, they lost on day 1, but I couldn’t help highlight their unprecedented dominance in this tournament. The Coyotes found themselves on the right side of an instant classic in game number two of the day, somehow holding off a late flurry of points by the Tigers. White River’s offense could not find consistent scoring in the first half, but they played clean and that’s what was able to keep them tied up 20-20 into the halftime break. Jones Co. came out of the half firing, and they led by 9 with a few seconds left in the third and all the momentum was with the Coyotes. But Teagen Bouman drained a half-court buzzer beater to bring it within 6 and completely shift the momentum. The fourth quarter was electric, as White River’s Bryson One Star hit back, to back, to back threes as he essentially kept the Tigers within striking distance. With 4.9 seconds left, Eldon Marshall drew up a play that gave Bouman a perfect look at a three to tie, but he couldn’t hit it as all of Murdo breathed a big sigh of relief and got the win. Adrik Schoon was named the CHS River Plains Player of the Game for his outstanding play in the paint bringing in some critical offensive rebounds, Asa Best led the Coyotes in scoring with 18. For the Tigers, Teagen Bouman finished with 18, one star finished with 12-points with four threes. Stanley County defeats Crazy Horse 67-32 to advance to Championship Through these first two days, Stanley County has proven to be the toughest team to beat in this tournament. Their offense continued to dominate on Friday as their three-headed monster of Kaden Montana, Paxton Deal and Eddie Duffy led the charge combining for 56 of the Buffs 67 points. Deal had 15, Montana had 19 and Duffy led again with 22. Kadoka Area defeats Lyman 63-39 The Championship matchup for Saturday night is set, and it is going to be two high powered offenses battling it out. As dominant as Stanley County looked these first two days, Kadoka has matched that level of play. Kadoka came out swinging, doubling Lymans offensive production in the first quarter 22-11. The Kougars best quarter came in the third when they outscored the Raiders 19 to 5. Kadoka had two players finish in double-digits, Kole Hermann with 14, Gus Stout with 17 with three 3’s.
