Woman accused of hitting fire truck while driving drunk

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Police say a woman who was drinking and driving crashed into a fire engine Thursday night in Raleigh.
No one was hurt in the crash, but the driver, Candace Rogers, 30, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, public intoxication, reckless driving, and failing to exercise due caution.
According to MPD, Rogers was southbound on New Allen Road, approaching Hawkins Mill Road, when she slammed into a Memphis fire truck making a right turn in front of her.

Police said Rogers turned right with the fire truck, tried to go around the large vehicle, and struck the engine's front end.
Officers on the scene said Rogers admitted she had been drinking, and they found a pint-sized, half-empty bottle of brandy on the passenger side of her vehicle.
Police said Rogers smelled of alcohol, her eyes were red and glossy, and she performed poorly on field sobriety test. Rogers' alcohol level was .103.
Rogers is also charged with driving without insurance. Her bond was set at $1,500.
