INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on Friday released video of a police shooting that left one man injured and a police dog stabbed.
Officers responded Sept. 1, 2023, to during an after-hours break-in at Greene’s Auto & Truck Service at 111 W. Raymond St. They found Brandon Ramirez, 24, behind the front desk. Security footage shows Ramirez breaking glass to enter the building. The video also shows officers giving Ramirez commands to get down. He did not follow them, so officers released K-9 Ringo on him.
That’s when Ramirez pulled out a knife, stabbing the dog multiple times.
Officers then opened fire.
Officers say Ramirez and the police dog were both taken to hospitals after the shooting. Neither died.
