Friday afternoon the National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for Berks, Lehigh, Chester, Montgomery and upper Bucks counties for all day Sunday, Jan. 19. Hunterdon, Warren, Sussex and Morris counties in New Jersey are also under the watch. The watch said heavy snow is possible with accumulations between 5 and 8 inches possible in Pennsylvania and lesser amounts east and south. The National Weather Service is predicting anywhere from 3 to 4 inches of snow to 6 to 8 inches in our region on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025. There could be some freezing rain in portions of the region Saturday morning. “The main concern with this system will be the potential for a brief period of localized light freezing rain or drizzle within a few hours of sunrise Saturday morning in far northern Delaware and extreme southeastern Pennsylvania,” NWS forecasters stated. Expect plain rain for most of the region. AccuWeather is predicting highs on Saturday to be between 40 and 42 degrees. Highs on Sunday will be right around freezing, 32 to 33 degrees. Be prepared for temperatures to drop significantly Sunday night and usher in a deep freeze for several days.
