SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The state's highest court has upheld the second-degree murder conviction of a man from West Springfield who shot and killed another man at a child's birthday party.
Terrance Montgomery was sentenced to life in prison for the 2018 killing of 23-year-old Paul Finegan. The victim was shot and killed at a home on Margerie Street in Springfield where a birthday party for a three-year-old was being held.

Montgomery appealed his conviction, arguing that prospective jurors were improperly questioned during empanelment. On Friday, the SJC denied Montgomery's motion for a new trial.
