SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The state's highest court has upheld the second-degree murder conviction of a man from West Springfield who shot and killed another man at a child's birthday party. Terrance Montgomery was sentenced to life in prison for the 2018 killing of 23-year-old Paul Finegan. The victim was shot and killed at a home on Margerie Street in Springfield where a birthday party for a three-year-old was being held. Man gets life in jail for murder at toddler’s party in Springfield Montgomery appealed his conviction, arguing that prospective jurors were improperly questioned during empanelment. On Friday, the SJC  denied Montgomery's motion for a new trial.
