U.S. Ski Team: Parkites Lindsey Vonn, Lauren Macuga and the rest of the women’s speed tour will be back in action this weekend for the Cortina d’Ampezzo World Cup. Vonn is coming off the best results of her comeback, and Macuga, her first cup victory last weekend in St. Anton, Austria. The Cortina downhill race will be Saturday and the super-G Sunday. Both races can be streamed on Ski and Snowboard Live.The U.S. Ski Team posted strong results at the Laax World Cup’s slopestyle competitions. On the men’s side, Parkite Alex Hall finished in third, and fellow locals Troy Podmilsak and Colby Stevenson finished 11th and 12th, respectively. On the women’s side, Parkite Marin Hamill finished in sixth, and fellow local Rell Harwood in ninth. Miners: The Miners Red hockey squad took care of Herriman Wednesday 8-1 on the road. Park City opened up a 5-1 lead after the first period, tacking on three more goals in the second. Cooper Ford had a hat trick and an assist for the Miners Red. Park City is 16-0, sitting atop the state standings, with their second inner-program showdown with the Miners White team up next Jan. 29. The Miners boys basketball squad fell to Murray at home Tuesday 84-62. Senior Michael Zagin had 15 points in the loss, and Kurtis Menge and Luke Rice had 12 each. Park City is 3-14, with Jordan scheduled Friday for their senior night. The Miners girls basketball squad fell to Murray at home Tuesday 41-38. Park City led by one at the halftime break. Sophia Dunkel scored a team-high eight points in the loss. The Miners are 4-10, with Jordan scheduled Friday for their senior night contest.The Miners White hockey squad took down Skyline Wednesday 5-0 at home. Park City scored one goal in the first, three in the second and another in the third. Jayden Jacobs and Wyatt Nellis each had a goal and an assist in the win.
